In this post we are going to introduce image classification problem. which is the task of assigning an input image one label from a fixed set of categories. This is one of the core problems in Computer Vision that, despite its simplicity, has a large variety of practical applications.
In this post we are going to discuss how to read an image, how to display it and how to save it back. OpenCV provides three function cv2.imread() , cv2.imshow() , cv2.imwrite() for reading , displaying and saving back an image. Optionally we can also display the images with Matplotlib.
OpenCV was started at Intel in 1999 by Gary Bradsky, and the first release came out in 2000. Vadim Pisarevsky joined Gary Bradsky to manage Intel’s Russian software OpenCV team. In 2005, OpenCV was used on Stanley, the vehicle that won the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge.
